Yes, a minimum of 10 rooms is required to secure your wedding venue. Room blocks are available for wedding groups at special rates.
Yes. Personally selected vendors are welcome with prior approval. A temporary work permit is required, and all equipment must be itemized with serial numbers and estimated values. Our wedding planner will assist with the process before arrival.
You’re welcome to bring your own décor for your ceremony or reception. Import duties and government taxes may apply. We recommend shipping items at least 20–30 days prior to the event for clearance.
1. Complete an Application for a Marriage License form and submit it to the Registrar General’s Department.
2. Present valid photo identification (passport or driver’s license).
3. Participate in an interview if required.
- A Bahamian marrying another Bahamian does not need to be interviewed.
- A Bahamian marrying a non-Bahamian must be interviewed by the Registrar General.
- Two non-Bahamians are interviewed by a Registrar or designated Marriage Officer.
4. Once approved, the marriage license is issued upon payment of the applicable fee.
The Registrar General’s Office is located in the Government Complex in Marsh Harbour.
No. Both parties must be physically present in The Bahamas for at least 24 hours before applying for a marriage license.
When processed through the inter-island mail system, the certified marriage certificate typically takes 12–16 weeks to arrive.
No, same-day certificates are not available.
No. Only a Bahamian marriage license is legal for weddings performed in The Bahamas.
Weddings can only be performed during daylight hours. In winter, this is typically 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; in summer, slightly later due to extended daylight.
Yes. Marriages can be performed by non-denominational Marriage Officers, including Registrars, Deputy Registrars, Family Island Administrators, and Magistrates.
Marriages must be performed by a licensed Bahamian Marriage Officer. Visiting ministers may assist, but only a Bahamian officer can legally pronounce the marriage. If you wish for your officiant to perform the ceremony, they must apply for a temporary Work Permit.
Yes. You can be married on Saturday or Sunday if your application is made during working days (Thursday or Friday).
